Objective:

Plan, manage, and design activities to advance the OFIFC's Friendship Centre support and stabilization plan priorities.

Key Deliverables:

● Manage Friendship Centre core funding programs provincially.

● Develops funding proposals, advocacy tools and communication materials to advance the OFIFC's core funding objectives.

● Manages the OFIFC's Friendship Centre core capacity support initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Specialization Lead (Design, Implement, Monitor, and Manage) (45%):

  • Coordination and integration of all OFIFC core support including linking various internal and external stakeholders; activities linked to pay equity, decent work, core funding, Friendship Centre capital infrastructure and land acquisition.

  • Urban Programming for Indigenous Peoples program design, performance measurement, evaluation and implementation.

  • Participates in advocacy and negotiations for the Urban Programming for Indigenous Peoples program funding renewal.

  • Coordinates and participates in Friendship Centre regional meetings, networking, training and support activities.

  • Manages provincial funding agreements and program budgets.

  • Liaises with government on relevant program and policy tables.

Program Initiatives (Design, Implementation, Review, and Evaluation) (35%):

  • Manages the development of work plans, project schedules and resource plans.

  • Proactively seeks out new funding opportunities and options for Friendship Centre core funding.

  • Develops, updates, implements, reviews, revises and evaluates Friendship Centre support policies and procedures.

  • Ensures all government or other reporting functions are met completely and on time, relevant contribution agreements and contracts required.

  • Oversees the development and completion of Friendship Centre support resource materials.

Human Resources and Financial Management (15%)

  • Supervises and maintains HR responsibilities for direct reports by providing direction, leadership, coaching, feedback, performance reviews, training and development opportunities, and implements the performance management process.

  • Participates in recruitment & selection in area of responsibility.

  • Ensures delegation to direct reports is appropriate and supported.

  • Coaches and develops standards of performance and skill set of direct report Managers.

  • Ensures financial and reporting requirements of program initiatives.

Other (5%):

  • Maintains and upgrades professional skills.

  • Promotes a healthy, safe work environment; and

  • Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned by the Executive Director or designate.

Education/Work Experience:

● Completed post-secondary education in related field combined with 5 years experience in not-for-profit management.

● 2 - 3 years' experience in program management

● 3 - 5 years' experience working within a not-for-profit sector, preferably within an Indigenous organization

● Excellent interpersonal and management skills including demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff.

● Knowledge of Ontario not-for-profit Governance, Board and Bylaws and relevant legislation.

● Understanding of Public Policy, government process, Indigenous service needs and providers as it relates to Friendship Centres and service delivery providers.

● Ability to provide training, facilitation and public presentations.

● In depth knowledge of urban Indigenous community needs, solutions, trends, and gaps.
