What is the opportunity?

The Manager, CM Performance Management - QTS Investment / Portfolio Advisory, will be responsible for providing financial advisory to the Capital Markets Technology Investment Review Board (IRB) deepening connection of technology investments and business objectives. In this role, you will be the technology finance partner to senior business stakeholders, providing timely/accurate insights on capital spend, ongoing monitoring of each of the IRB portfolios' technology investments and financial trajectory. You will track CM project benefits leveraging an established framework capturing revenue and cost efficiencies of investments to guide management decisions. This role is great for you if you desire working in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC (especially within Capital Markets).

What will you do?

  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to the CM Investment / Portfolio Advisory team providing thorough assessment of Project Approval Requests (PARs) to challenge nature of ask, assurance on financials, and strategic direction of work proposed.

  • Prepare qualitative and quantitative analysis on PARs including in-depth understanding of strategic objectives, investment and benefits, and overall impact to the CM Portfolio.

  • Participate in validating and challenging benefits identified in PARs and monitor and track the realization of benefits

  • Strengthen CM Finance's influence with initiative owners during the creation of benefits profile through advisory on KPIs and trackable metrics; enforcing accountability on project owners for post-implementation assessment

  • Support Associate Director on Finance's perspective on technology costs across the IRB portfolio

  • Maintain benefits framework to guide discussion across Business Leaders to make informed strategic decisions on Capital Markets Technology portfolio. This includes ongoing monitoring of each of the IRB horizontals' technology investments and financial trajectory.

  • Integrate Capital Markets technology costs/resourcing in strategic decisions to fully understand the level of technology investment required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 3+ years within Financial Services and/or Technology industry

  • Solid experience and thorough understanding of Capital Markets products and businesses

  • Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with ability to communicate effectively through impactful presentations.

Nice-to-have

  • CPA or CFA or Finance MBA highly preferred

  • Experience in complex wholesale business activity, management reporting and analysis, and/or financial resource optimization (capital, funding, and liquidity).

  • Possess technology acumen or have a keen interest in leveraging technology to streamline processes
