Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly safety inspections to help identify deficiencies and aid in corrective/preventative actions;
- Conducting monitoring, sampling and report writing of a variety of physical, chemical, and biological exposures;
- Complete a review of site HPD’s and report on the effectiveness of current choices;
- Liaise with section managers/supervisors on health and safety related matters including occupational hygiene assessments;
- Conduct noise surveys, including both surveys and dosimetry, in key areas;
- Attends weekly plant walkabouts and site inspections, identify if an employee’s health and safety is being affected by their work and identify corrective and preventative actions required;
- Ability to interact well with people; responsive and sensitive to customer needs;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently completing a post-graduate degree in Occupational or Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Public Health Administration;
- Completed undergraduate degree required. Science-related preferred;
- Experience or strong interest in health and safety management and/or industrial hygiene;
- Self-starter, attention to detail, punctual, consistent, and flexible to changing tasks;
- Goal oriented, demonstrate initiative, and enjoy working in a team environment;
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and decision-making abilities.
