Makes technical decisions based on knowledge, training and experience to maintain the integrity of the CSA Mark. The Level III Certifier applies their theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge and practical experience to independently resolve certification problems. Knowledge of all areas of Certification and Testing, such as exposure to laboratory testing, field services and customer visits. Completes edits and reviews technical reports.
Responsibilities:
On time completion and turn-around times as set by management.
The Level III Certifier is given complex projects. These projects increase in difficulty as the Certifier develops. Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques, operating procedures and divisional quality documents in responding to problems and client enquiries. Resolves technical issues to determine the appropriate interpretation of technical requirements within the assigned area of responsibility. Prepares work orders for the test programs, with assistance if required, and collaborates with Lab Staff to determine applicable tests. Prepares certification reports, Certificate of Compliance and other related CSA documentation.
Performs witness testing at clients or third-party facility for certification. Provides clients with assistance in solving problems/failures without divulging proprietary information. Auditing for SMTC, CPC and other CSA programs as required.
Auditing for CSA programs as required.
Mentors junior staff.
Support CU reps in quoting and developing potential business.
Provides high quality certification services which meets the clients' needs in the most efficient and effective manner possible
Maintains good housekeeping, taking care of safety and using PPE at all times.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8 years or equivalent of related experience or Engineering Technologist/Technician diploma or
Certified Engineering Technologist/ Technician, Licensed Trades with 8 years or equivalent industry experience
Preference will be given to candidates with background in motors and generators.
Experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (e.g. CSA/UL/IEC 60079 series, CSA 22.2 No 213, CSA C22.2 No 100, CSA C22.2 No 145, UL 1004, UL 1836)
Knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, as well as general Laboratory procedures
Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC Standards
Familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills, strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented
