Working as a member of the recruitment team, the bilingual recruitment specialist will facilitate the complete talent acquisition process. You will collaborate with hiring managers and HR business partners to proactively identify trends and recommend initiatives to achieve staffing requirements and create a successful talent pipeline. This will include engaging candidates through emerging and traditional sources, participating as a panel member on interviews, guiding managers, engaging with the union, conducting reference checks, extending offers of employment and preparing new hire documentation.
The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple vacancies for union, non-union and management positions simultaneously and be comfortable understanding, interpreting, implementing and explaining the nuances of the different collective agreements to hiring managers.

Reports to: Manager, HR Advisory Service and Recruitment
• Manage full life-cycle recruiting for all assigned vacancies including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, short-listing, interviewing and making offers
• Develop and maintain working relationships with HR business partners and hiring managers within the business areas to provide assistance with recruiting needs and job vacancy specifications
• Support hiring managers through the selection process while providing coaching on policies and best practices as needed
• Proactively and strategically manage vacancies by providing hiring managers' advice and updates, anticipating needs, sourcing candidates when necessary and being accountable for the candidate engagement throughout the recruitment process
• Conduct reference checks and coordinate background checks as required
• Demonstrate and reinforce LAO's commitment to providing fair and equitable recruitment and selection practices
• Embed diversity conversations in all recruitment and sourcing activities
• Attend career fair events (in-person and /or virtually) across the province and represent the organization on occasion
• Assist with other HR /recruitment related projects, tasks and duties as required
• Experience recruiting in a unionized environment.
• Proficiency working with an HRIS and applicant tracking system
• Ability to prioritize effectively, manage a full workload and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to communicate and educate hiring managers at all levels of the organization
• Self-directed and solution-oriented with a high sense of urgency to deliver results and meet business deadlines
Preferred Experience
• Post-secondary diploma in human resources, business, or related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education
• Experience recruiting within the public sector is an asset.
• Experience recruiting within the legal sector
• Experience working with equity-seeking groups and championing diversity in the workplace
• Working knowledge of provincial employment laws, human rights and privacy legislation, behavioral-based interviewing, and human resources best practices
• French language skills is an asset
