We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Field Coordinator to join our growing team in the Toronto office. Reporting into the HSE Director, the HSE Field Coordinator is a reliable and knowledgeable resource for workers, supervisors, forepersons, managers and executives to provide support, advice, inspections, training, hazard identification, and document management.

This position will include both in-office work as well as in-field support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Training: Supporting the facilitation of safety-related training, including Orientation. Review evaluations of training delivery feedback. Coordinate with external training providers and our internal labour managers and workers, scheduling of training. Coordinate, maintain and upload training records in the system.
  • On-site Engagement: influence compliance and commitment in the field to all HSE requirements.
  • Assisting in document control and data quality and integrity.
  • Assisting in the development of HSE communications to support the HSE Strategy.
  • Partnering with operations on HSE messaging and communications to MN employees.
  • Attending all HSE applicable meetings.
  • Supporting the HSE and Risk Management teams in maintaining compliance status across all contractor compliance sites (i.e Avetta, ISNet, etc.).
  • Providing support in all required HSE statistical data and documents for prequalification.
  • Supporting operations and Senior Leadership in managing risk by:
    • Identifying opportunities of improvement through inspections and audits
    • Enhancing our safe work procedures by utilizing lessons learned
    • Providing training recommendations to ensure competency and awareness of workers
    • Consulting for operations on new project site specific safety plans
    • Incident and claim management support
  • Administrative Functions:
    • Uploading completed documents into Noggin upon request
    • Booking boardrooms, printing and scanning documents
    • Supporting the HSE Specialists, Regional Managers, and Leadership with other tasks and duties as needed

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Health and Safety or related field. CRSP is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience within a similar position. Experience within the construction industry would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders at all levels.
  • Well-organized individual with the ability to effectively set and manage competing priorities.
  • Sense of prioritization and drive to succeed.
  • Comfortable working within a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful, energetic, and able to operate independently with confidence.
  • Clean driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites if required.
  • Strong interest in growing a career within the construction industry.
