The Performance Engineering team provides shared software performance engineering services to global Product Management and development teams in the OpenText™ Products group to ensure that OpenText products can scale, handle high volumes of data, large numbers of concurrent users, and do not fall-over when edge case conditions stress the system.

What the role offers:

As a Lead Software Developer (Lead Performance Engineering Analyst), you will:

  • Design, develop and execute software performance and scalability tests for OpenText products. A qualified candidate can analyze the results of these tests, offer diagnosis of bottlenecks, and optimize the design and deployment of software applications on-premises or in the cloud.
  • Knowledge and application of performance assessment methodologies are needed to establish scalability characteristics, to conduct analysis on trend, edge case handling, stability and end-to-end responsiveness, and to evaluate efficiency in design.
  • Communication skills are essential to author reports and work with fellow engineers to share findings and analysis, propose mitigation approaches, architectural enhancements, or configuration best practices to optimize product performance. Ability to guide and mentor junior performance analysts is also required.
  • In addition to the actual testing and analysis, the person in this role will setup, configure and tune the performance lab equipment and infrastructure software supporting these tests.

What you need to Succeed:

  • At least 8 years of software performance analysis and load testing experience.
  • Computer science, mathematics, or engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent experience working in technical roles in the software development industry.
  • System admin level experience with the full web application technology stack, from web servers to the Java or JS application tier, relational database server to operating system; knowing how to configure, tune and troubleshoot all tiers.
  • Performance load testing experience, preferably with web applications (designing and scripting tests in leading load simulation tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, analyzing load test results, resource monitoring and interpretation skills, and diagnosing exposed bottlenecks).
  • Database and SQL tuning experience required (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Code profiling experience (e.g. JProfiler, Yourkit, VTune, etc.).
  • Resource (memory, connection, etc.) leakage analysis experience.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods to promote understanding of load results and scaling, and model realistic response tolerance (asset).
  • Development experience (e.g. Java, JavaScript, SQL, C++/C#, etc.) (asset).
  • Expereince with OpenText products or similar Enterprise Information Management systems is an asset.
  • Most important is a keen interest and tenacity for finding performance bottlenecks, designing/ developing tests to expose them and finding solutions to mitigate them.
