Work Arrangements:
This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement. In this role the Learning and Development Specialist will facilitate in-person programming as required by the role and will work more than the minimum requirement in office.

The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Learning and Development Specialist to join our Human Resources team.

The Learning and Development Specialist will assist with the coordination and logistics of our orientation program, support our Learning Management System, create and facilitate training and related materials and support the day-to-day operations of the Learning and Development team.

What you will be doing:

  • Create and maintain training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials as required
  • Facilitate and lead training when required
  • Develop and cascade communication around training programs and activities for the organization
  • Develop and participate in all aspects of the bi-weekly EQ Orientation program including but not limited to: communication with attendees, presenters, external vendors, preparation, revision and facilitation of presentations, oversight of social events, complete post-program analysis, etc.
  • Maintain the Learning Management System
  • Maintain the Learning & Development SharePoint documentation
  • Provide administration and coordination support of training courses to ensure effective and timely course information, registration, and logistics, as required
  • Resolve challenges concerning the delivery of training programs between registrants, trainers, partners, and external service providers
  • Generate relevant dashboards/reports to provide accurate information regarding the administration, compliance and value of the training courses offered
  • Facilitate meetings and follow ups, as required
  • Establish templates for use by the Learning & Development team - i.e. project meeting/meeting minutes
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of educational events and other special events
  • Monitor and respond to Learning & Development shared email inbox and other Learning & Development related questions
  • Administration duties as assigned by Learning & Development Managers and Senior leadership
  • Provide back up support to other HR coordinators, as required


What you will bring:

  • University degree, preferably in Adult Education, Business, Human Resources or similar
  • Experience in a Learning & Development role
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline is a strong asset
  • Certified or familiar with facilitating DiSC
  • Learning Management System experience, preferably with Dayforce Learning
  • High level of integrity with a sense of confidentiality and privacy
  • Multi-tasking and sound time management skills
  • Ability to handle interactions over the phone and in person
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with daily assumptions or when working in ambiguous situations
  • Experience working with Virtual Classroom / MS Teams is a strong asset
  • Microsoft Office knowledge, including MS Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
