Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Human Resources Operations position in Montreal, QC from May - Aug 2025.

Job Summary

The Intern, Human Resources Operations is responsible for assisting HR through different mandates. The incumbent will be actively involved in HR Inquiries Management and HR projects, in various HR process design, review and optimization. The role operates in a high-volume contact centre environment with a focus on service delivery excellence as well as responding to customer inquiries related to policies, programs and processes covering a wide spectrum of Human Resources topics. The position applies skills learned in school in a professional setting as well as gains a better understanding of the role that HR plays in a corporate setting.

Main Responsibilities
Implementation of Technologies & Process

  • Participate in the implementation, testing, review and optimization of processes for our new case management system using ServiceNow

Employee Services

  • Respond to employee and leader inquiries using an omni-channel strategy
  • Leverage case management software
  • Investigate employee concerns by collaborating with other HR team members, focusing on timely and accurate resolution of issues
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with team members and other HR and non-HR (e.g., Payroll) stakeholders
  • Leverage relationships to collaborate on inquiries ensuring service quality and accuracy
  • Support candidates with the completion of the background check
  • Support employees with the Onboarding process
  • Manage the CN Recruitment Mailbox, addressing candidate inquiries about their application and the application process.
  • Participate in various ad-hoc projects

Requirements

  • Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)
  • Applies critical thinking
  • Time management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment and oversee multiple priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Cornerstone, ServiceNow, Tableau or Power BI*

Education

  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Technology or equivalent with a minor in Human Resources or another related field

*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
