Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Performance and Sustainable Procurement Analyst position in Montreal, QC from May - August 2025.

Job Summary

The Intern, Performance and Sustainable Procurement Analyst is responsible for driving improvement in Procurement & Supply Management (P&SM) by evaluating, planning and implementing improvements in processes, data analysis and practices, as well as facilitating and coaching improvement teams within work units. The incumbent works with the P&SM groups to identify opportunities, report on performance measures, and document and deliver on initiatives in order to improve service delivery. In addition, the role involves a substantial communication and stakeholder management component including working closely with Senior Management.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support the reporting requirements for P&SM across various areas including benefits tracking, contract expenditures, Indigenous spend and other metrics to support Category Management and Operations in delivering value to CN
  • Gather the requirements from various teams within P&SM to build relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that support strategic business decision
  • Maintain the existing dashboard by working on incident resolution and performing root cause analysis to bring enhancements to the current solutions in place
  • Perform assessments utilizing analytical skills to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally to design new processes and present business requirements based on process knowledge for technology implementations
  • Introduce and sustain change across multiple initiatives in both the business and technology areas using a variety of change management and communication techniques
  • Collaborate with the Indigenous Relations team, to identify opportunities to increase Indigenous participation in CN's supplier base
  • Support in the development and execution of Sustainable Procurement initiatives (e.g., engaging suppliers, reporting and tracking of KPIs)
  • Prepare supporting documents and materials for discussions with key stakeholders

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of process mapping techniques
  • Be an analytical thinker as well as business and technology savvy
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Act as a change agent to promote new ideas, processes, and tools
  • Be agile and capable of supporting multiple teams
  • Knowledge of systems such as Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Fieldglass and Ariba*
  • Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)*
  • Knowledge of Indigenous landscape and culture*

Education

  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or equivalent

*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
