Senior Consultant, Disability Program Management (Class 6)

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Consultant, Disability Program Management to join our team. This key position, under the supervision of the Director, Group Disability Claims, will be responsible for managing the strategic relationship with one of our major clients in Canada. The ideal candidate must demonstrate solid experience in client relations. As a true specialist in disability and workplace health, you will work closely with all stakeholders to optimize the customer experience, promote industry best practices, and bring significant added value in disability management. Your responsibilities will include designing innovative solutions to address health and disability challenges in the workplace. In partnership with the Business Development team, you will develop strategies to achieve set objectives. Success in this role relies on your ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships, both with our client and with key internal stakeholders. Your aptitude for building trusting relationships and collaborating effectively will be essential to excel in this position.

Key Functions:

1. Expertise and leadership:

  • Be the key point of contact for management and the plan sponsor
  • Lead client meetings in collaboration with the business development team
  • Provide strategic advice and value-added support

2. Client relationship management

  • Develop a trusted partnership with stakeholders
  • Ensure expert and consistent relationship management
  • Support retention through excellent communication and disability management expertise

3. Analysis and continuous improvement

  • Interpret client needs and issues
  • Propose innovative solutions aligned with industry best practices
  • Analyze key metrics reports and disability trends
  • Identify process improvement opportunities

4. Program development

  • Design proactive policies and practices that meet client objectives
  • Develop communication plans and training on recommendations
  • Propose innovative solutions to identified problems
  • Convince the sponsor to adopt suggested improvements

5. Internal coordination

  • Be the spokesperson for client needs within Sun Life
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet expectations
  • Coordinate the implementation of tailored operational solutions

The incumbent must strengthen the strategic partnership with the client, optimize disability management support, and promote the adoption of innovative solutions.

Skills and expertise

  • Proven ability to identify and analyze client needs, collaborate in a team, and mobilize relevant resources to provide concrete solutions.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written. Recognition as an expert in the sector would be an asset.
  • Exceptional talent for developing and maintaining fruitful relationships with internal collaborators, clients, and partners.
  • Solid experience and in-depth knowledge in disability management, as well as physical and mental health in the workplace.
  • Strong persuasion skills and ability to rally teams around common objectives.
  • Ability to keep general and technical knowledge up-to-date through reading, professional development, and participation in industry forums.
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required to answer calls from English and French speaking clients across Canada and worldwide.

Analytical and relational skills:

  • Sharp analytical mind allowing for the identification of key issues and their causes to formulate relevant recommendations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to interact effectively with all stakeholders.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
