About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic HR Partnerships, your main responsibility will be to provide strategic HR support to Senior Leaders, Front line leaders and employees who reside in the Lloydminster area. This role works closely with the broader Strategic HR Partner team as well as the HR Centers of Expertise to deliver programs and services in alignment with the business and people strategy and plans. You'll also partner with our Canadian Labor Relations Specialist to develop and deliver an Employee Relations strategy for the organization.

The ideal candidate will have experience with HR program design/delivery in areas such as performance management, succession planning, leadership development, risk management, organizational team effectiveness and development.

Work Environment:

  • The successful candidate must live in Lloydminster, be willing to relocate, or live in Calgary and travel 50% to Lloydminster.

What you'll do:

  • Act as the strategic partner to the Vice-President, Canadian Downstream Manufacturing to enhance organizational capacity, capability and performance, while addressing people experience and risk. Diagnose challenges, identify solutions, and implement integrated action plans

  • Partner with COEs to align function programs with the People Plan and People Principles, ensuring efficient and effective implementation using HR resources and capabilities

  • Support annual HR programs (leadership development, succession planning, performance management, etc) and provide expertise in talent development, retention, organization design and team effectiveness to create and implement culture improvement plans

  • Gather feedback from clients regularly to ensure planning, projects, services, and support being provided aligns to business area needs

  • Lead the review and change management of the modified work agreement and averaging hours agreement, in partnership with the business and HR COEs

  • Collaborate with HR Operations for consistent service delivery and advise management and employees on performance and conduct

  • Influence and support the development and delivery of fit for purpose governance, programs, processes and services within the COEs and service delivery teams of the HR Department

  • Represent the business area's needs in HR program development and planning and continuous improvement; provide COEs with input that reflects the perspective of client group and results in fit for purpose programs and services

  • Work with the Canadian Labour Relations Specialist and other partners to develop and implement an employee relations strategy for field operations, ensuring HR policies follow legislation and are effectively communicated

  • Evaluating viability of grievances and facilitate best possible early resolution solutions. Prepare files for rights arbitration hearings. Provide training on grievance process, file integrity and mitigating strategies

  • Monitor, coach, train and provide advice on interpretation, application, and administration of collective and association agreements. Ensure employer compliance with agreements

  • Provide change management consulting to support the successful execution of changes

  • Develop an approach and facilitate investigations across the organization and report and address employee concerns in accordance with Company policies

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field (Human Resources, Business).

  • Minimum 12 years HR experience with experience demonstrating capability in succession planning, leadership development, employee relations, organization and team effectiveness

  • Minimum of 8+ years of Organizational Effectiveness / Team Effectiveness, and proven track record to influence culture with both Senior and Frontline leaders

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or equivalent is an asset
