Job Description: Reporting to the Manager Quality & Safety North, the Safety Consultant is accountable for the application of safety practices and standards to protect, promote and maintain the health & safety of the SHA. The incumbent is also responsible for the implementation of the SHA Management System that would support the existing Safety Program, with the intent of exceeding minimum standards in Health & Safety. The Safety Consultant is a key role within the SHA Quality & Safety portfolio. The Consultant is responsible to ensure consistent application of all patient and staff safety legislation, regulations and practices, quality improvement methodologies and client concern handling. The position is expected to maintain quality and safety as outlined in the SHA Quality & Safety Plan and support the deployment and replication of the SHA Management System throughout the organization. The Consultant may be assigned to support functions and duties related to Patient Safety, Staff Safety, Quality Improvement and/or Concern Handling, depending on area of need. The Consultant will participate in and lead efforts to link in with key stakeholders to support safety and continuous quality improvement at all levels of the organization. The Consultant may also be tasked with developing project teams, determining the scope of projects, establishing target dates, monitoring outcomes and providing regular updates. To be successful, the Consultant must effectively work with staff, leaders, physicians to integrate best practices and standards. The Consultant influences the success of system wide improvement and attainment of organizational goals.

Experience

  • Experience in a discipline related role in the specific department/area/program
  • Experience in health care

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Undergraduate degree in a health related field
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
