Position Title: Specialized Operational Trainer - Western Canada
Reports to: Senior Manager, Operational Training
Location: Western Canada

We are seeking applicants for the position of Specialized Operational Trainer, Western Canada. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager, Operational Training, and Health and Safety and will be responsible for facilitating and supervising field training for both current employees and new hires. The Specialized Operational Trainer will be responsible for all required training initiatives and processes within their assigned region, which will require regular planned travel.
As a member of the Training department, you will:
Work with regional management to assess training needs as well as launch and lead all national training initiatives and implementation plans
Recruit, manage, and develop Branch level trainers and OJT Coaches
Participate in the development of training programs and standards
Attend various courses to obtain and maintain qualifications necessary for the training role
Manage various reporting and tracking requirements
Work with various levels of the management team including Operations, Human Resources and Risk Management to resolve training, operational issues or assess risks
Complete Motor Vehicle Incident review and cause analysis, providing guidance on preventability and remedial requirements.
Schedule and conduct required new hire firearms training, firearms re-qualifications and remedial training when required
Conduct compliance audits in relation to health and safety and street inspections to ensure compliance with operating procedures and regulations
Conduct periodic firearm inspections or inventory audits, and perform required maintenance
Support the inspection, testing and approval process of new equipment, uniforms, and ammunition
Act as Company liaison with the Chief Provincial Firearms Officer and police agencies
Remain updated and informed on all current firearms legislation and use of force laws
What we're looking for:
Ideally possesses qualifications as a Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, with Justice Institute of British Columbia certification preferred
Defensive Driving Instructor or be capable of obtaining qualifications
Post-Secondary education
2+ years of industry experience in management, operations, and training
Excellent communication and facilitation skills
Proven history as a coach, leader, and team player
Self-driven and can make sound and logical decisions with minimal supervision required
Must have a valid Possession Acquisition Licence which includes restricted class firearms
Internal candidates will have demonstrated and sustained a high level of firearms proficiency with issued firearms
Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams
