About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Manager HR to join our team, to play a crucial role in supporting and executing our People Strategy. You will be accountable for providing subject matter expert advice, counsel, and guidance in the nominated HR areas of expertise, and lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of fit-for-purpose people and organizational systems and solutions.

Reporting to the General Manager of People and Organization, you will partner with other HR Managers and work closely with the Areas of Expertise (AoE) and the People Experience team to deliver on the strategy.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Work with and influence the business in understanding their needs and ensuring that the right tools are designed, developed, and implemented to achieve their people and organizational objectives, both now and in the future.
  • Collaborate with leaders across departments to enhance workforce productivity and efficiency. Anticipate workforce trends and adapt HR strategies accordingly.
  • Lead the development of a strategic workforce plan, ensure it aligns with business, organizational, and people strategies.
  • Lead the annual workforce planning process

Total Reward and Benefit Strategies

  • Conduct regular market analyses to ensure competitive positioning of rewards.
  • Oversee the development and administration of reward programs that align with organizational objectives.

Expatriate Management

  • Oversee the expatriate management process, including relocation, onboarding, and support throughout the international assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant immigration, tax, and labor laws for expatriate employees.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to support expatriate services.

What you'll bring

  • Tertiary Education in a related field of study.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in HR, especially at an asset, and with an international workforce.
  • Experience in HR management with a focus on organizational effectiveness, rewards, workforce planning, and expatriate management.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues and diagnose root causes effectively.
  • Proven ability to engage, coach and influence leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including leading diverse teams.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills working with various stakeholders and teams.
  • Prior experience working in a HR role within a developing country.
  • Experience working with large corporate or operational leadership teams.
  • Experience in organizational design and implementation of appropriate tools and systems.

Where you'll be working

Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit and underground mine. The site is located in the Gobi Desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20-year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
