Under the direction of a Supervising Engineer/Mentor, the purpose of the Engineer in Training position will provide incumbents with supervised work experience, while continually increasing responsibilities to a professional level. By completing separate assignments which offer a variety of technical work and training opportunities, the incumbent will be exposed to engineering problems and solutions which will provide a solid career foundation and appropriate work experience towards registration as a professional engineer. This position is designed to provide valuable experience designing and constructing transportation infrastructure in the north and is well suited for a range of applicants from recent graduates to those who have some experience but have not yet achieved professional designation.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering disciplines directly related to highways and transportation from an accredited Canadian University prior to applying. Preferably in the degree of Civil Engineering.
  • Competence with various computer applications related to engineering (e.g. Microsoft Office, databases, drafting).
  • Experience related to highway, Geotechnical and/or bridge design, construction and maintenance is an asset.
  • Experience as an Engineer in Training or similar type position is considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
  • Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training with Engineers Yukon
  • Valid Standard First Aid ticket
  • Proof of completion of Engineering degree from an accredited Canadian university

Job Requirements

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:

  • Willingness to travel throughout Yukon
