This position has an annual salary pay range of $120,166.00 - $150,207.00

(Management/Excluded Group -1)

Reporting to the Director of Quality, Safety, Strategy, this position is responsible for providing oversight, management and strategic decision-making support related to corporate quality improvement and safety for patients, caregivers, volunteers, and staff members. The areas of oversight include incident reporting and risk management, patient safety, patient relations, infection prevention and control, health emergency management and occupational health and safety, in support of the safe and excellent operations of Yukon's hospitals. This position is also responsible for facilitating Accreditation activities.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Good knowledge of management methods, techniques and solid management skills including ability to develop and manage a budget and people
  • Knowledge of established practice and procedures of professional nursing care
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in quality improvement, incident reporting, patient safety, and risk management
  • Knowledge of other Health care disciplines and their role in patient care
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Canada processes
  • Understanding of relevant health care legislature and processes related to risk and legal matters
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills/proficiency
  • Strong human resource and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize, coach, mentor and evaluate staff
  • High degree of management competency including leadership, collaboration, negotiation, motivation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals
  • Ability to set priorities and to demonstrate good judgment
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to advance initiatives and support maintenance of a strong reporting and safety culture
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to solve problems and manage multiple major projects simultaneously
  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity, including an understanding of cultural safety in health care and the continued impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples today.

The successful candidate will have a degree in a health related field, or a current RN Licensure, Registered member of a recognized health profession college or regulatory body, Continuous Quality Improvement Certification, Risk Management & Safety in Health Services Certification, Three (3) to Five (5) years' experience in hospital management, preferably in an acute care setting including: risk management, process improvement, core measures, case management, claims resolution, medical staff services, and regulatory agencies and a valid Yukon class 5 drivers' License with a clean driving abstract. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered. Master's Degree in Health Care or Business is desirable.
