The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) administers workplace health and safety and workers’ compensation in the territory. WSCB’s mission is to assist workers and employers in preventing work-related physical and psychological injuries, illnesses and disabilities. The Role:
Reporting to the Director, Legal Services, the Reconsideration Officer administers, reviews and provides decisions on matters adjudicated under the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Act. The reviews occur in a quasi-judicial setting and contribute to the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) meeting its legislated mandate. This includes internal review of workers’ compensation decisions, workplace health and safety orders and decisions, employer assessment decisions and administrative penalties.
Essential Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in administrative justice, law, occupational science, or a related field
• Significant experience interpreting, analyzing, and applying legislation and policy
• Experience communicating technical and legal information in plain language internally and to the public, through written communication
• Experience in decision writing, preferably within a workers’ compensation setting or other regulatory or administrative setting.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment:
• Have and maintain RCMP Security Clearance
