We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Property Management team. This position is for a permanent fulltime Supervisor, Safety Unit and is based in Whitehorse, Yukon working 75 hours biweekly.

This position is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of safety and training programs within the division. The incumbent ensures the Division's Safety Management System (SMS) is maintained and that hazard management plans are effectively implemented. The role includes leading safety audits, investigating incidents, and promoting safety practices to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Experience with interpreting health and safety legislation, regulations, and/or workplace compliance standards.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety policies and procedures
  • Experience conducting safety audits and/or risk assessments
  • Experience conducting safety investigations
  • Education/Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, and/or a similar discipline will be considered an asset
  • Relevant courses in construction safety, industrial safety and/or facility management will be considered an asset
    Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

  • Experience supervising a team, including coaching and mentoring staff
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to address safety concerns and incidents proactively
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
  • Strong client service skills and demonstrated experience operationalizing Health and Safety
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
  • WHMIS (to be met within 3 months of hire)
  • Standard first aid certification (to be met within 3 to 6 months of hire)
  • Incident Investigation training (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Internal Audit Course (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Level S Asbestos Surveyor Safety Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)

Job Requirements

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:

  • Travel throughout the territory
