At the end of September, Richard Pierre, 39, pleaded guilty to a scam that tricked over three dozen jobseekers into handing over personal information in their job applications.
Mr. Pierre posted fake job ads on Monster.ca and Jobboom.com, in which applicants were asked for their social insurance number, driver’s licence and date of birth. Armed with this information, he applied for credit cards (getting 44 in all) and racking up whopping $300,000 in charges.
He and his wife are currently facing 136 charges, with sentencing due at the end of October.
