After announcing the new directive on performance management in the public service earlier in the year, a certain number of tools and resources have been prepared to help managers implement the process.
Beginning in April 2014, public service employees and managers will be subject to performance requirements. To facilitate implementation of this new process desired by the federal government, managers now have access to a range of tools and resources on the website of the Chief Human Resources Officer. Implementation of the Program in Ten Consecutive Steps, Detailed Guide on the Elements Contained in the Directive, Overview of Objectives and Results, Division of Roles and Responsibilities… Specifically, these documents will guide managers in implementing review committees and allocation of scoring based on work objectives and basic skills.
Documents for employees
A kit has also been specifically designed for employees to prepare them for these new objectives and to understand that managers and supervisors will be expecting more from them.
Training accessible online
Mandatory training on performance management is also accessible online on the site of the Canada Public Services School for managers and supervisors. The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer will also prepare two workshops on the subject, one for managers and supervisors and the other for employees.
