In August, 13 French workers threatened with layoffs produced a calendar of themselves in the nude to prove their determination to management.
Bruno Piquepaille, 29, with almost six years’ seniority at the Chaffoteaux plant, in France, explains that he was “ready to bare all to save his job.” When he learned that management wanted to shutter the Ploufragan site, which manufacturers water heaters and boilers, and lay off the 207 production employees, he decided to fight back in an original way. He and 12 co-workers posed in the raw for a professional photographer to produce a calendar titled Les dieux de l’usine (gods of the plant).
The initiative was a slick campaign and received a lot of coverage in the French press. Now all that remains to be seen is whether the employer will have a change of heart.
