According to HR professionals, candidates should not be embarrassed to ask questions during an interview. Some details from the latest OfficeTeam survey. Because some questions that come up are disconcerting to say the least.
“What do women who work here look like?”, “Do you have a job for my spouse?”, “Can my husband finish the test for me?". These are some examples of questions that 650 Canadian and American HR professionals recalled with dismay during a survey conducted by the OfficeTeam placement agency. Some job applicants don’t beat around the bush when they ask: “Would you like to go out with me?“ or even “Is the boss single?“. Rather unusual.
Off topic!
Other questions are also found to be irrelevant in the context of a job interview. Some candidates seem more interested in other aspects such as food (“Can I put my desk close to the cafeteria?”) or personal logistics (“Can you help me find an apartment?” or “Could I have a salary advance?” or even “Can I set my own hours?”) while others even wonder what they are doing there ("What does the work consist of?").
And time off?
And when some candidates showed more interest in the position, it was to find out more about the benefits that the company could offer: mid-day siesta, day of rest on their birthday, three weeks vacation every three months to be able to pursue a career in music… No, some candidates definitely do not go unnoticed.
