HIRINGS
1. Quebec’s nearly $ 4.9 billion biennial investments into road infrastructures will enable the creation and retention of thousands of jobs. We're talking about 3,400 jobs spread over 231 yards in the sole region of Chaudière-Appalaches.
2. It is in the Greater Montreal area that the French company StarDust, expert in monitoring the follow-up quality of applications and websites, has bagn its international expansion. A choice that should generate 20 jobs.
3. By installing a silicon metal plant through its subsidiary FerroQuébec, the Spanish group FerroAtlántica will be creating 345 positions, an addition of about 230 jobs needed to build the factory in Port Cartier, on the North Shore.
4. The tenth Provigo Market store to emerge in Quebec has begun its operations in Boucherville. More than 50 new employees have joined the new store which counts about 140 employees.
5. The American fashion chain Nordstrom will be opening its first store in Canada in the fall. The retailer of ready-to-wear clothing plans to hire 400 people for its new store in Chinook Centre in Calgary.

LAYOFFS
1. Bell Media’s advertising sector, radio and television division, has experienced a slowdown resulting in the cut of 120 positions over the next few weeks. All of these jobs are located in Toronto.

2. Blackberry’s plan to cut costs continues. The company recently confirmed the layoff of 65 additional employees.

3. After a halt of its workforce operations, Fortress Paper is now obliged to force 16% of its workers out at its plant in Thurso. Although the exact number of layoffs has not yet been disclosed, it would appear that senior executives and managers are the first to be laid off.

4. It is no surprise that hundreds of employees have lost their positions at Saputo Cheese following the closing of the Warwick plant, an announcement made over a year ago.
