Salary increases averaging 2.6% for 2013
This is what Canadian employers expect according to the annual survey on compensation conducted by Morneau Shepell. However, this rate is down 0.2% compared to last year’s results. Respondents said they are less optimistic than in 2011 regarding workforce growth and the profitability of their organizations, especially in Alberta. Conducted among 250 companies (employing over 1 million employees), the survey covers different fields such as manufacturing (28%), services (24%) and finance (14%). Employers in this last sector forecast the lowest increases compared to last year.
Canadian companies the most committed
Achievers has unveiled its ranking of the 50 most committed Canadian companies, including Bayer, G Adventures and Molson Coors Canada. The jury assessed applications on the basis of various parameters to measure employee commitment: communication, leadership, culture, rewards and recognition, professional and personal development, reliability and performance, vision and values and the company's social responsibility. According to Achievers, companies that focus on their employees’ commitment tend to achieve better financial performance, attract and retain talent and benefit from improved customer service.
