What about you—What's your biggest complaint when it comes to coworkers?
A LinkedIn survey reveals what bugs professionals the most in the workplace.
Sick of your chatty coworker talking too loud on the phone? Or coffee spots near the espresso machine? If so, you’re not alone. Professional social network LinkedIn has just published a study on daily irritants at work. The study, which polled over 17,000 LinkedIn users, including 1,228 in Canada, reveals different pet peeves depending on where you come from. Americans are less tolerant than other countries when it comes to taking food from the refrigerator that isn’t yours, Brazilians hate office gossip, Germans are picky about dirty common areas and Indians have a hard time with irritating cell phone ringtones.
In Canada, like in many other countries, the top pet peeve was people not taking ownership of their actions. Second was constant complainers and third was dirty common areas. To round out the top five, meetings that drag on and people not answering their e-mails.
The study also shed light on gender differences. Canadian women, for instance, are more annoyed about revealing clothing in the workplace than their male counterparts. Of the 16 countries in the survey, India has the most pet peeves and Italy the fewest. Canada ranked fifth.
